Lax Discussion in the Oregonian

February 22nd

This Andrew Greif Oregonian Live Article features a good discussion of boys and girls lacrosse in Oregon.  While Oregon can boast about a native who is the only Tewaarton (lacrosse's equivalent to the Heisman trophy) award winner who played his high school lacrosse west of the Mississippi (Peter Baum, Lincoln '09), growth of the sport has slowed and this article touches on some theories as to why.

The article also features a discussion of concussions and, as demonstrated in the Oregon vs Syracuse game on February 18th, how the girls game has been adding headgear and the associated controversy.

On a related note, the women Ducks faired well against #7 ranked Syracuse, an east coast powerhouse and perennial NCAA playoff team, losing 17-11 in front of a sellout crowd at West Linn High School Stadium.  Photos from the Ducks game versus Syracuse can be found on OregonLive here.
