2019 OHSLA/Nike Clinic

Saturday, January 5th Noon to 4pm

The 2019 OHSLA/Nike Coaches Clinic will again be held on the Nike Beaverton campus, this year from noon to 4pm in the Tiger Woods Building. The 2019 edition will feature Duke head coach John Danowski and Episcopal Academy coach Chris Bates.  As always it is best to park in lots accessed from the main entrance on Murray Blvd.  There is now a parking garage near that entrance which is slightly closer to the building (see image to right).  There are usually multiple signs onsite directing to the event.

John Danowski has been coaching at Duke since 2007 where he has won 3 national championships.  Coach Danowski played college ball at Rutgers and after several years coaching at the High School level, coached at CW Post and Hofstra before taking over at Duke.  Like another renowned coach at Duke, Danowski currently has the most career wins as coach in NCAA Division I for his sport and coached team USA to an FIL championship in 2018.  The Duke Program has been performing coaches clinics for the last few years, one can visit the Duke Coaches Clinic Archives for both a preview of Coach Danowski's presentation style and some great tips on team management.

Chris Bates played attack at Dartmouth and started coaching at the high school level in the Philadelphia area after a brief stint in the MLL.  Coach Bates moved on to the college to head coach at Drexel for ten years followed by seven at Princeton before returning to Philadelphia to coach at Epsicopal Academy.  Episcopal plays in the highly competitive Philadelphia Inter-Academic League, which features national contenders like Haverford School and Malvern Prep.  Coach Bates has also been named to be a head coach in the new Premier Lacrosse League that starts up June 2019.
